How do I take care of my new tattoo?
Leave the bandage on for 2-4 hours. No more than 24 hours. When you take the bandage off, wash the tattoo with warm soapy water (Anti-bacterial soap, such as Dial). Lather the soap in your hand, and rub over the tattoo. Let the water run down your tattoo, not directly hitting the area. Blot dry with towel. After the first wash, use same procedure for 5-7 days, or until scabs come off. Do not let your tattoo dry out. To keep the area from drying out, apply a paper thin layer of unscented hand lotion (Lubriderm or Tattoo Goo). You never want more than a paper thin layer on your tattoo. To much ointment is just like getting it wet. You are trying to create a flaky, peeling, sunburn type scab. If your tattoo gets wet, or too much ointment is applied to your tattoo, it will be a hard and thick scab. If the scab is accidently pulled off, it will take out the ink. A little water will not hurt your tattoo. Sweating will not hurt your tattoo. Do not submerge your tattoo in water, ex. swimming and batheing). Make sure to immediatly blot your tattoo if it gets wet. Do not let water stand on your tattoo. Do not scratch or itch your tattoo. After your tattoo is healed, the sun will fade the color in your tattoo. Before exposing your tattoo to the sun or UV light (tanning), make sure to apply 25 spf sunblock or higher to the area. This will keep your tattoo colors from fading. If you follow these directions your tattoo should look like it did after it was done.
