How do I take care of my external piercing?

External Piercing Care

Always use ibuprofen for swelling and Tylenol for pain.

Leave bandage on until you get home. If the bandage is stuck to the piercing, soak the bandage with warm water then gently remove it. After removing the bandage, wash your piercing with unscented antibacterial soap like Dial and warm water. Gently move the jewelry so the soap gets inside the piercing. Next apply a small amount of Triple Antibiotic Ointment (Neosporin) to your piercing. Move the jewelry so the ointment gets inside the piercing then wipe off the rest to avoid irritation. This will be done 3-4 times a day for 10 days. Do not remove jewelry and keep balls screwed on tightly. If a piercing does not have jewelry in it, the hole will close

regardless of how long you have had it.

After 10 days, stop using the Triple Antibiotic Ointment. Continue washing your piercing with antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day for the rest of the 30 days. If the jewelry gets hard to move, use a small amount of A&D ointment. Do not use Alcohol, Peroxide or Bactine on any piercings.

After 30 days, you can wash your piercing as you would normally wash your body. Stay out of lake and ocean water for 30 days. Chlorinated water (pools and saunas) and tanning beds will not harm your piercing. After 30 days you can change your piercing. Any piercing can take 6 months to 1 year to heal completely.

Your first Change out is free Tuesday-Thursday, you do still have to buy jewelry here or bring your own as we do Not provide the jewelry for free. If you get a bump on your piercing it is not a keloid, do not pop it, do not take your jewelry out, call or stop by and we will tell you how to get rid of it. Blood, puss and crust are all normal.  If you have any problems, do not hesitate to call. We can help.

* If your nose piercing falls out, wash off a regular earing (that goes in your ear) with alcohol and put it in the piercing. This will hold the hole open until you can get to us to put the right jewelry back in.

* To help prevent bumps : if you notice crusties on your piercing in-between cleanings, use a q-tip and warm water to clean them off.
